Early morning northeast Louisiana.

201206EOSMarkII8815

  • I went home last week to visit my mom. One early morning I walked through the corn fields near the house. The stalks looked good at first. They were over 6 feet tall. Then I noticed there were only two ears per stalk, instead of the six to eight that I was used to seeing. Wierd... I heard an article on NPR when I got back that the heat was hurting the corn crop. Evidently the corn doesn't pollinate in the heat that we've been having..... mystery explained.
  • Notice on two ears per stalk.
  • Early morning northeast Louisiana.

  • The heat does not seem to have affected the milo crop. This is one of the beautiful fields of milo I saw in northeast Louisiana.
